It's true! Corn is being utilized for fuel and more so now than ever with skyrocketing fuel costs. There are people that burn corn in their stoves in the winter to heat their homes. There are people that make ethanol out of corn for use in their vehicle gas tank.

Making ethanol out of corn is not so much onlike making moonshine. In fact, a man in Tennessee has a license to sell moonshine stills along with his recipe for producing corn fuel. Of course, the stills are to be sold and utilized for producing corn fuel and not moonshine.

There is much debate happening right now because some people think if corn is utilized for fuel that the corn as a food source will be reduced or vice versa. Actually, the debate is perhaps a bit ridiculous and here is why ...

Many farmers every year are paid by the government NOT to grow corn. The reason being, there would be too much corn production if all the farmers grew corn. The result would be a lot of wasted corn and prices would be too low to yield a sufficient market price. However, utilizing more corn for fuel would in reality bring more income to the farmer...which by the way is very much needed. Our food supply would dwindle without the farmer...no doubt about that.
